Having been approached many years ago to work with the creator of myCV, I've only recently had the opportunity to start work on this project. myCV is an app where users can build a personalised work profile using their employment and training history to make hiring and compliance easy for employers and staff alike. For this project, I was initally asked to create a branding scheme that the app developers would use to inform the build of the app itself, along with a landing page to help gain traction and build a mailing/signup list.
Understanding Purpose and Audience
The brand-building process began with understanding the app's purpose and identifying its core audience. We aimed to assist job seekers, particularly the younger demographic in the construction and engineering industry, to have a place to house their accreditations and compliance documents for current and future employers to access. With this understanding, we crafted an app logo and branding that was modern, vibrant, and approachable.
Brand Design
The concept behind the branding was to create something super minimal in terms of composition, whilst still being bold and recognisable enough to be used as an iOS app icon. My idea was to use rounded triangular shapes overlapping at different angles to represent the initials 'CV'.
Wireframing and Webflow
The next step was developing a compelling website design. The goal was to create a clean, intuitive, and user-friendly interface that mirrored the app's simplicity and efficiency. The colours, shapes and typeface used in the main logo were also integral to the website design, where I took those same elements and animated them throughout the page to create some visual interest to the very clean and minimal design. The styling of the website is very simple but effective in creating a very consistent and intentional looking brand overall.
We used the Webflow platform to build the website, taking advantage of its comprehensive set of tools and functionalities. Webflow's design and development process enabled us to create a dynamic, responsive, and visually exciting. From crafting an engaging homepage that highlighted the app's features and benefits to designing user-friendly navigation, we ensured the website was not only attractive but also functional.
Conclusion
The creation of the MyCV App brand, along with the website design and build, showcased the power of strategic design and technical expertise. The project delivered not only a compelling app brand but also a website that effectively communicates its value to target users.
